The Hong Kong craft beer market is still growing rapidly, with several new local breweries and taprooms slated to open in 2017. There’s no limit to the number of good beers, but the quality and consistency of brews, as well as the lack of beer experts, are still a concern.
Although it does seem like Hong Kong has grown rapidly in a short span, we’re still behind other nations in terms of breweries-to-population ratio. However, as long as education and marketing stay strong – with more tap handles for local breweries – we should continue to sustain this growth.

There will always be room for new breweries as long as we have knowledgeable staff and brewers, as well as a strong marketing strategy.

More and more new beer drinkers are joining the craft beer community after trying their first sips from local breweries. At the same time, beer geeks are always keen to try brews from famous breweries worldwide. Thus, craft beer in Hong Kong is still developing nicely. However, it will eventually come to the stage of “survival of the fittest”.
